Grand Champion Seydou of Silverdale, Award of Merit winner Westminster 2023. Seydou was imported from Germany and was sired by Xolo Ak Ilaman and his dam is the gorgeous Ghalia Kel-es-Suf. He was bred by Helene Peither of the famous and historic Silverdale Kennel which has produced top Azawakh since 1980. Silverdale has been in existence for 52 years with an emphasis on Whippets prior to Azawakh. The founders of the kennel were the veterinarian Maike Röder-Thiede and her husband Dr. Werner Röder.
Dr. Röder was also the founder of the ABIS expeditions that promoted the preservation of the breed in the Sahel and successfully imported Azawakh from Mali and Burkina Faso to Europe and the America’s that added greatly to the breeds genetics diversity. Seydou’s litter was born on the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the kennel.
Seydou easily finished his Champion title basically in one weekend by winning two 5 point majors and then a 4 point the next day at a Hound Specialty in Lawrenceville, Ga. He already had 1 point as a puppy. He then went on to take 2 more 5 point Grand Champion majors at the same show when he was moved up to a special. Aslaam finished the rest of the requirements for his Grand Champion title in just a few short months, making him only the 6th Azawakh to obtain that title. Additionally, Aslaam achieved the ranking of #2 Owner/Handled Azawakh in the US for Seydou in 2022. He has a bright future ahead of him.
Intl. BIS CH Starfire's Don't Cha Wish is our newest addition who lives with his primary owner, Terri Porthan of Noblewinds kennel, while I co-own him with her. Envy is an exquisite male who has an extremely desirable pedigree that represents both the renowned kennels of Eidi n'Amanar and Aulad. We are very excited to have this gorgeous male as a future stud for one of our girls.
Envy has been shown very little however he has achieved some spectacular wins already. At a very young age, he was awarded an IABCA Best in Show. Terri and I look forward to advancing his show career both there in the northern US as well as here in Florida and the southern US.
Xanadu Farms Jafar. Jafar is the smartest male Azawakh we have here. Only our female Ksenia tops him in this. He is also a first generation azawakh. His mother, Terdelai of Xanadu Farms is from Niger. His father De Garde-Epee Renoir has a mother from Niger and his father is of established European lines. Oh, and did I mention he is one of those mythical black Azawakhs?
I also think its insane I have to state this, but for the record his DNA has been tested and he is 100% Azawakh as there are some who think a black azawakh isn’t fully azawakh, even though they exist in the country of origin. While Jafar isn’t eligible to show in AKC shows, Aslaam is determined to get his UKC CH title. We have exciting breeding plans for Jafar in the future.
CH Kaylen’s Aladdin at Domiko. Aladdin is our Standard Poodle that loves to keep the Azawakh in line. He’s either chasing them or playing with them. I can honestly say I never thought I would ever have a poodle, but now I know I will never be without one. Aladdin finished his CH title when he was just over a year old and is now on his way to his GCH title. He was sired by GCH Kaylen’s Top of the Charts and his dam is Kaylen’s Brightest Star. He was bred by Kay Peiser, Gerri Jones and Virginia Dorris. Kay was brought up in the dog world by parents who specialized in Boxers. In addition to being one of the top professional handlers in the US, she is also a breeder of top Boxers, Chinese Crested and Poodles. We are doubly blessed when she allowed Aladdin to come here as not only do we have him, but Kay is now handling our newest star Chalas Amber Sand.
